Demo-only experiment
Lesion image de-identification screening
This demo environment is testing whether lesion-focused images can be screened for identifiable context before any future external vision routing for morphology description. The screen result is a research signal only. It is not a legal certification of HIPAA de-identification.
Back to demo dashboardWhat we are testing
- Whether a lesion image appears tightly cropped and focused on one clinical target.
- Whether identifiable context such as faces, tattoos, jewelry, labels, or broad body framing is visible.
- Whether the image should be treated as pass, manual review, or block for future external morphology-only testing.
- When the screen returns pass, whether an external non-HIPAA vision model can produce useful morphology-only descriptors in this demo environment.
What we are not claiming
- This does not certify that an image is legally de-identified.
- This does not replace privacy review, expert determination, or production policy.
- This does not route production PHI to non-HIPAA models.
Current demo decision policy
Pass
Lesion-focused crop with low apparent identifiable context. Eligible for future morphology-only external testing in demo. The user may then run the external morphology experiment manually.
Review
Identifiable context is uncertain or the crop is broader than needed. Keep manual review in the loop.
Block
Identifiable features or sensitive context are visible. Do not route outside the HIPAA-safe side.
Capture guidance
- Frame the lesion tightly and keep one focal target in view.
- Exclude the face, tattoos, jewelry, labels, paperwork, and distinct room details.
- Include enough surrounding skin to show the border and configuration.
- Avoid estimating lesion size from the image unless a real scale marker is visible.
